Makin’ It Happen is pleased to announce that we will be offering QPR Suicide Prevention Virtual Training as a part of our Winter Resiliency Essentials for community members on December 15th, 2020 from 10-11:30 AM.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer.  QPR is an evidence-based training offered nationwide.  QPR is not intended to be a form of treatment or counseling.  OPR is intended to offer hope through positive action.   The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us.

We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. This training is for all adult members in your community, it will be both engaging and interactive. You will gain skills that enable you to support yourself and your neighbors, friends, and families that surround you. You will learn about available resources and where to go for help.

According to the New Hampshire Suicide Prevention Council: “Suicide is a serious public health problem in New Hampshire. It is generally preventable and suicide affects us all. The majority of violent deaths in New Hampshire are suicides. For every homicide in New Hampshire, there are approximately 10 suicides”.

Makin’ It Happen’s Resiliency Essentials Coordinator Deb Baird says “We are thrilled that we can bring the QPR suicide prevention training into the Greater Manchester Region, especially during this time of uncertainty.  Building resiliency in our communities is so important anytime, and even more so now. You will gain the skills that enable you to support your family, friends, and neighbors by recognizing the warning signs for suicide, the available resources, and where to go for help.  This program has great potential for moving forward in 2021 in the Greater Manchester Region through Makin’ It Happen”.
